twine game review

what is your reaction to the game you've reviewed?

I think its interesting to how this hypertext game really intergated the emotional defeat of being depressed. it really gives the player an interospective look on how people with depression feel and how others react to opening up about depression, which adds to the helplessness of emotional symptoms of depression

what connections did you make with the story thats youve read. discuss the elements with which you are able to connect.

this whole game is based on what living with depression and how it affects daily life of the player character, and how they see the world and their peers reactions.
i don't know if some choices were crossed out because i played for free or because the player character is too absorbed by their depression to coherently think of all of the options available. i think that  this good either way because it shows that the creator is aware of all of the options and thought process involved

what changes would you make to adapt this story into another media? what medium would you use, what changes would you make?

I would probably use renpy' to turn this into a more interactive visual novel game. I would adapt the game choices to have a point system that effects your choices, and cut down on some of the wording to keep the player from spacing out or skipping over it. also I would have the visuals help reflect the character's emotional view, maybe make it grayed out. the biggest change is probably make the character's gender nonbinary, instead of male because that way the player can see themselves more in the story. also I dont know if i would give the character a girlfriend, because that can make the player assume that the character is male since its rare to see a gay relationship. but if i do i would make the character nonbinary visually, and storywise
